Okay, I'm a lil late on the whole comic release things so I was SO excited when I heard that Marvel was trying to milk the cash cow of the Jane Austen fandom by creating a comic of Pride and Prejudice. I was even tempted to preorder the graphic novel that comes out sometime in November.

It was the curiosity of what this comic was like that prompted me to do what I do with so many questions, I googled the darn thing. First off, I found that you can read some free digital comics on marvel.com ((I toldja I was behind on the times!)) but it wasn't there. So, trying again, I searched under keywords "Pride and Prejudice Marvel" and eagerly began to click away the images.

And then I sat there in silence.

And I sat some more.

Then my eyebrow hiked up to my hairline as my heart did a detour to the ground and landed on my foot. Considering my heart is pure stone, my foot hurts but the heart lays there like a fat cat in the sunshine.

To me, it seemed as if they took the most recent movie of Pride and Prejudice, the one with Knightly and whats-his-name, and paused it at various times to draw the panels. Mrs. Bennett looks like Miss Piggy transformed into a human. Mr. Darcy looks JUST LIKE the whats-his-name who played him from the latest Pride and Prejudice.

Now I know some might rejoice in this but to me, I was purely upset with Marvel. I am a true-lover of Pride and Prejudice as created by BBC, the one with Colin Firth (MEOW!). Because unlike Hollywood, BBC at least TRIES to capture the correct customs and culture of the time period. ((Like when Knightly and the whats-his-name met up ALONE in a field--- that would have been SCANDELOUS! not to mention the hair down all the time >.<)

I'm not against new takes, but I would rather not hear those that out and out just take the 'jist' of a book or true story and run with it. Heck, I liked Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, although Mr. Darcy, Vampyre left me with a new tick above my eye.

So there is my rant

All my love that I have for Marvel and for Pride and Prejudice and the child of the two came out looking like the back end of a baboon with explosive diarrhea.
